Provinzialkonzil (oder irisches Nationalkonzil); 1216/17
This council met following the Fourth Lateran Council in Rome (1215) to establish and define the role of rural deans in Ireland. If the date is correct, it shows that Anglo-Norman Ireland was up-to-date with church reform across western Europe. This cannot be verified, but the summoning of another council to Dublin in 1217 may indicate that this particular reform was indeed in progress.
