Provinzialkonzil; 1495 (6. Juli)
Summoned to meet on 6 July in order to confirm an act of the Irish parliament in 1493 that had resolved problems that had occurred when Armagh clergy went to visit Christ Church, Dublin and were denied safe conduct by the local church authorities there. The legislation and the act of confirmation are recorded in full in the archbishop of Armagh’s register, giving us an idea of how seriously the matter was taken at the time. The council also ratified the sale of indulgences in aid of the hospital of the Holy Spirit in Saxia, which was located in Rome. It seems that Armagh agreed to this because it thought that it was a good idea to maintain close relations with an institution in Rome that could help facilitate its relations with the papacy.
