Provinzialkonzil (Prov. Cashel); 1511
Summoned to meet at Limerick on 20 August. A list of the titles of the seventy-seven canons that were enacted there has survived, but the canons themselves have been lost. However, we can guess that about fifty-seven of them were re-enactments of the canons of 1453, which suggests that more than half of the 121 recorded from that earlier council were no longer thought to be relevant. In particular, the canons dealing with the mendicant orders were not renewed, probably because by 1511 they had been fully integrated into the life of the province. Most of the remaining canons dealt with the payment of tithes and the functioning of the church courts.
